One Application, Every Category
AEM members fall within the categories below, as defined in the Academy's Bylaws. You don't need to pick the right one before applying — submit a single interest form and the Board confirms category and standing during review. Dues structure is being finalized; we'll notify you when enrollment opens.
Regular
For members who do not qualify for Fellow, Retired, or Fellow Emeritus standing. Full members in Regular Standing have full voting privileges.
Fellow (FAEM)
An honor bestowed on members who apply for and meet the requirements to become a Fellow of the American Academy of Exercise Medicine Clinicians and Scientists (FAEM), as determined by the Board of Directors. Full members in Fellow Standing have full voting privileges.
Retired
For retired individuals who do not qualify for Fellow Emeritus standing. Additional eligibility requirements apply. Members with Retired Standing do not have voting privileges.
Fellow Emeritus
For members who have obtained Fellow standing and are retired. Only members in Fellow Standing may apply. Full members in Fellow Emeritus Standing have full voting privileges.
Trainee
Applies to trainees pursuing AEM-affiliated advanced practitioner training, as well as those in other training programs. This category does not confer voting privileges.
